Local Attractions

We are located near to everything you would want to see in Victoria and on the Saanich Peninsula. The attractions listed below are all located within a 15 minute drive, although some only a short walk away! There is something for everyone where we are located, please see the list below for some of the more popular attractions.

Scenic Gardens

Butchart Gardens- At the beautiful Butchart Gardens you’ll find an abundance to do in every season and at every age. Fireworks and live entertainment every night in the summer as well as a full size Carousel open all year round. In the winter enjoy the lights of the twelve days of Christmas and Victoria’s first outdoor skating rink. In spring the tulips and roses are in full bloom as the garden comes to life.

Glendale Gardens- Home of the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific. This hidden gem is made up of 103-acres of demonstration, conservation area, a college gardens located just off of West Saanich Rd, only minutes from our Hotel.

Outdoor Activities & Sports

Prince Of Whales – Whale Watching – Get ready for an adventure of a lifetime! Whether you choose to ride on the open top zodiac boats or on the covered ocean magic boat, your trip will be an unforgettable one! Elk/Beaver Lake– We are within walking distance to this beautiful lake! Take part in the swimming, fishing, boating, or enjoy the walking trails throughout the forest, fields, and wetlands that surround the lake. There are two main beaches to choose from, both offering sandy beaches with picnic area’s! For more information, click here.

Horseback Riding– ‘Horseback Riding Victoria’ is a family owned and operated buisness that offers rides at Elk/Beaver lake park as well as rides at Island View Beach. They offer 1 hour and 2 hour long rides at both locations, although beach rides are subject to tidal status. For more information, click here.

Golf Courses- Cordova Bay Golf Course is an 18 hole course with driving range and its own 9 hole PAR 3 course as well only 5 minutes driving distance away. For more information on the Cordova Bay Golf Course, click here.

Mount Douglas Park– ‘Mount Doug’ stands 260m high and is covered with a beautiful municipal park. It’s many trails, mature second growth forest, striking vista’s of the city at the many look-out points, and nearby beach make the area a popular destination to locals and tourists alike!

Island View Beach– Established in 1966, this long sandy beach expands along the Eastern shore of the Saanich Peninsula. Features of this beach include; beach and wetland ecosystems home to many migratory bird species, panoramic sea-scape views of Haro Strait, James Island, and Mt.Baker, as well as a loop-trail that offers an easy scenic walk!

Family Activities

Heritage Acres– Saanich Historical Artifacts Socierty operates a 29-acre site featuring nature trails, picnic area’s and park land. The society collects, restores, houses, displays and demostrates artifacts telling the story of farming, country life, and industry on early Vancouver Island. For more information, click here.

Butterfly Gardens- Victoria’s only indoor tropical paradise with hundreds of butterflies in a different sizes, different species of birds, as well as frogs, turtles and a cameleon. What a great way to learn about butterflies in their habitiat.  A great educational attraction for the young and old. For more information, click here.

Galey Farms– Galey’s Corn Maze, Market, and Railway provides healthy, outdoor fun that challenges the brains of 5 and 65 year olds alike! The farm also has a petting area, playground, western town, and if you happen to be in the area around Halloween, they put on an even spookier show! Don’t forget the local fresh produce that is for sale in their Farm Market!
